Where is this horse and why is the story being censored?

If you haven’t already heard, there is a $1000 reward out for the return of Munition, a Thoroughbred gelding who was scammed out of his (admittedly gullible and should have known better) owner and now is in the hands of a kill buyer.

Urgently Seeking Stolen Thoroughbred Gelding

The story has gone far and wide, but the piece of the puzzle that is missing from most sources is the fact that Chri$ty of Another Chance to Avoid Working is involved. What a shocker, I know! The Alex Brown forum deleted the full story, as follows:

This is Mara the TRUE owner. PLEASE resume your help at stophorseslaughter2010@yahoo.com. I will forward to email addresses of people that can help.

Comments, prayers please leave here at Alex Brown as there is no motive to delete these comments.

Hey Christy? If you are a rescue???? Why are you deleting my posts with all the information I have traveled cross-country with all the help of hundreds of horse lovers to attain? Have you heard of a subpoena?

My conclusion of the story is well based, well investigated by all types of experts locally and internationally, here is what I believed happened. Lets see if this is deleted?

“Hello, Yes I am Gina (aka Mara Feld). When I say I “believe” this is what happened to Munition I have been given several pieces of evidence from sources who have everything to lose and nothing to gain. Such evidence, as it was revealed to me piece by piece, have allowed me to conclude beyond any reasonable doubt that Chisty and Rick have hidden my horse. I don’t buy the “he’s dead story”.

Spud Noone was motivated to get Munition out of Kerri-On-Farm in Three Rivers (near Palmer, MA) after I clued in on Friday and had an unpleasant conversation with Spud.

The following Monday the 22nd at approx. 1pm my attorney called Spud Noone to suggest that we settle this out of court. At that point in time Munition was probably on Brian Moore’s truck on his way to “another chance”. Then Spud called either Beam or Moore or the Sheidys or Phil Shirk to let them know about the call from an attorney (as I am sure the phone records will show in court). Then the Sheidys freaked and were motivated to get Munition out of their hands in the fear the PA police would show up.

That is why they sold Munition right away (to make a buck) and that is why there is no picture of him on the AC4H page and that is why everyone says “he is dead”: because they think I will go away. But I will not.

Munition could be hidden, he could be abused, killed by Beam?, killed by Noone? killed by either Rick or Christy Sheidy? killed by Shirk? I will do anything to get this horse back. I am happy to compensate any new owner financially as well as anyone who helps to find Munition. Please bring Munition home!

As I stated previously this is what I “believe” happened. Anything and everything is on the internet and nothing can be believed without further research. If anyone has a problem with me being Gina (ie Noone, Beam, Moore, Sheidys, Shirk) that is between us and I will be happy to entertain any one of these people in a court case. I am just trying to find Munition. PLEASE HELP!

I have credible sources that know Noone, Beam, Moore, and Christy Sheidy make approximately $50,000 per week. This has been going on for a long time. These horses are STOLEN, sold as STOLEN PROPERTY, treated like RESCUE horses, when they HAD LOVING HOMES, SOLD AS STOLEN PROPERTY again across the country for big bucks coming into this circus of killers and swidlers.”

**note whe writes they are stolen since in PA they are bought under false pretense=stolen.

FHOTD back in: Mara, you were not smart in this situation and I think you realize that now. That said, thank God you are not going to let this go. Whether we can still save your horse or not, it is time the kill buyers and their cohorts, the sleazy, lazy bitches like $am and Chri$ty are held accountable for their scamming and their total disregard for equine life and for the human beings they scam. Neither of those women has ever lost one minute of sleep caring whether or not a horse went to kill as long as their pockets were well-lined and they did not have to get a (GASP!) real job. And Mara, I hope that you pursue this to the ends of the earth and make sure no one ever forgets this or trusts any of these individuals ever again.

And whether you’re a Christian or not…spare a few prayers for this poor horse. Miracles have happened before and he may yet be intercepted. He can’t go to Canada without quarantine, so have the quarantine facilities all been contacted? $1000 will do a lot toward making it worth someone’s while to find him. From the Examiner: “Munition is a seven-year-old, 16.3 bay thoroughbred gelding with a Roman nose but no white markings. His lip tattoo is G25782. There is a $1000 reward for his safe return. If you have information that could lead to his recovery, please contact Deborah Jones at Thoroughbred Protection, Identification and Advocacy at 714 843 9108 or via Email at djones612000@yahoo.com.”

I’m confused as to why Christy has not been arrested or shut down. From what I know much of what she does is considered fraud and if I’m not wrong the amount of money that is often involved makes it felony fraud. It’s no big secret what she’s doing and I’ve read stories where she flat out threatens people which is also illegal. I’m willing to bet her taxes are not in order either.

Mara seems to be unafraid of the threats, so perhaps she WILL be the one to bring Chri$ty to justice. That’s what it takes. Most people get scared of either legal or physical threats and back down. It’s the same thing with $am. $am dated a violent criminal for years (may still be with him, I don’t know)…local people told me they were afraid to go after her for fear of what would happen to them or their livestock. I don’t blame people for being afraid…heck, none of my horses are anywhere that there isn’t literally armed security on the property…but if you give in to the threats, the scamming continues and more people and horses are victimized.

Fugs, when I read the story in the examiner there was a line in it about writing down the names of known horse dealers and letting every horse owner you know about them. Honestly, I haven’t a clue as to who those people are even in my own state. I think it would be a good idea to have people catalog this info and made available to others. I realize someone would have to be willing to handle the responsibility of that but couldn’t you start a page kind of like the mystery horse page where people can come on and give info? That way it would be readily available in the archives. Just a thought!

First things first: I feel terribly for Mara and I have nothing but respect for her for recognizing she made a big mistake and that it’s on her to turn the world upside-down in search of Munition. I sincerely hope she locates him soon!

However, I have to say, some of her more wild accusations really take away from her “case” such as it is. $50,000 a week? I adopted my boy from AC4H for $350 plus $50 gas money for Christy to go get him. They would need to sell 125 horses every week for $400 to gross $50,000, much less net that amount. I know they sell/adopt a lot of horses for much more these days, and some for less, but I really don’t think she’s moving 125 a week. Even if she did, overhead for a few days of care for each, transport, land, etc., would eat up most of the gross.

Accusing someone of horse theft is pretty serious, too. I think whoever took her post down did her a favor and she should have talked to her attorney before putting it back up. I usually laugh my ass off at the people who claim they’re going to sue for libel based on forum posts, but in this case it might actually stick. She’s publicly claiming that someone committed specific crimes with which she has not been charged. If Christy is making the $50,000/week that’s alleged and that drops as a result of claims she’s committed a crime, she could sue for damages. I would hate to see someone end up in financial trouble and as the defendant in a lawsuit just because she was distraught over her horse and said something that she possibly shouldn’t have.

I totally understand her frustration. I had a good experience with AC4H but if they indeed are now a “bad rescue” I know how hard it is not to warn everyone in sight. We have a bad rescue in my state run by someone who narrowly escaped animal abuse charges (thanks to an all male, all cowboy jury) and who made death threats to the woman who first exposed him. It is very difficult not to post huge warnings on every BB around! He also tried to cheat me personally, probably because I’m young and female. So really, I completely get it. But I think Mara would be wise to stick to what happened to her horse and not repeat hearsay that accuses someone of a serious crime.

AC4H a few months back had claimed to ‘adopt’ out 4,000 horses in one year on their facebook page. That’s a crock of crap and by just posting a question asking how many volunteers it took to do the follow ups, I was ‘defriended’ and if that wasn’t good enough, they blocked me too. No, I never received an answer. It’s well known that Christy and Rick are receiving money from all over the world, all over facebook and the Alex Brown sales, uh I mean forum. In other words, she’s getting money from good hearted people who think they are saving a slaughter bound horse or some sort of rescue. Their heart hits the send button on the paypal page while their mind sleeps. She isn’t necessarily ‘adopting’ out 125 horses per week but she’s possibly receiving enough money to do so.

    • tjd says:

No, I’m quite sure they don’t move 125 horses/week… I’d be surprised if they actually “move” 10 horses per week. For all I know all the horses I see on their videos end up going to slaughter anyway. I direct bailed a horse from them back in August, and I happen to know other people who’ve bailed and “adopted” horses from them. But going back to August, I can probably count 20 horses that I KNOW have been given good homes. The rest… who knows? A lot were said to have ended up at Voice for Horses (Diana Murphy)… god only knows where those horses are now. I know some were recently dumped at an animal shelter near Diana’s base of operations, and a few of those horses were euthanized.

But I think one thing AC4H does (which is very difficult to track), is they’ll say “X horse has a home, just needs bail, transport, vet fees”. Then, they raise the bail, don’t say they’ve raised the bail, then keep posting out with slightly different info saying “they just need XXX more dollars.” As I said, I’ve not been able to track this, but I’ve definitely noticed that on any given day, I’ll be watching their threads and it seems like people are pitching in dollars (they post as such on facebook, beneath the photos), then I go back later and those threads are deleted and new ones have been started for multiple horses. So… I would imagine if they’re listing a horse for 600 bucks, they collect at least three times that much in deceptive fund-raising. THAT is where the felony fraud is quite likely to be discovered.

Honestly, it would take a full-time army of 5 or 6 people to monitor and document their fraudulent activities just on facebook… Then there are all the other billboards and forums where they post out their horses. I fear they’ll keep going for a while… perhaps until the IRS takes the time to investigate.

I don’t know if this is anything or not, but yesterday on Denver Farm & Garden there was a post from Christy. It was written to look like someone else was refering people to her to “help” slaughter-bound horses, listed her website and names and such. What is odd is that I have never seen a post for her before in that section, heck I’ve never seen it posted to anywhere in Colorado, and I spend a LOT of time on there as bed-rest gets pretty boring. It was flagged and someone pointed out (in another post that was also flagged) that they had seen her on this blog and it was a scam. Anyways, just seems to be odd timing to be posting in states so far away, and then this blog came up about the missing horse….I doubt it’s anything, but it might be worth watching or looking into the Denver area too. Possiably he ended up here somehow?

I hope they find him, people really do amaze me with their lack of basic morals! And go Mara! I hope you stand your ground and take her down, right after you get your horse back!

It would also be possible that he is in the broker system, hidden away somewhere. He may turn up as a leased camp horse this summer. I would bet he is “in plain sight”, lots more risk getting caught on the road during transport.

      • fhotd says:

Well, and he is a plain bay horse. Not going to stand out in a crowd.

Ultimately I just feel bad for the horse here. He certainly doesn’t deserve to die. He won a TON of money and SHOULD be retired out somewhere like where my old mare lives. Someone dropped the ball on this horse time and time again.

And really, people, how many blogs do I have to write about the same topic? Not everybody who says they are a good home is a good home. Every single time that you fail to research them thoroughly – and yes, this may involve things you think may be offensive somehow, like searching the court records in your state – YOU HAVE DROPPED THE BALL and if something bad happens to the horse, look in the mirror. People LIE. People lie a LOT, especially where money is concerned. If your mom did not teach you that by the 3rd grade, I’m surprised.

Do you have a link to that post? I’m in Denver metro and own an AC4H adoptee. I might be able to somehow contact them and try to pry and see if I can come up with any leads on this boy. I’ll keep an eye out for him; no new TB arrivals at my barn recently but he might be floating around in the area somewhere. I don’t know which side I’m on about Christy, but I definitely am on team “Munition Needs to Come Home NOW!”

I don’t have a link as it was flagged off within a few hours, as was the post about it being a scam, neither made it past noon I don’t think. If there is some way to archive it, it was posted in Denver Farm and Garden sometime in the morning, I saw it around 10am and then it was gone. It had a link to her website and a out of state phone number. I do not know how to look for anything beyond if it’s still up, but it seems there is sometimes ways to pull things out of the internet when they are “gone”, so maybe!

I didn’t really think anything of it untill I saw this post today and the craigslist post struck me as odd becasue I haven’t seen her post there before.

Maybe I didn’t read carefully enough… Did she give the horse away to Noone? And then he likely sold him? Or did she sell her horse to him for a small amount, and she’s suggesting Noone sold him for more (to a KB or a new home)? I’m just curious about the specifics of the original transaction between her and Noone and what evidence she has to back up her claims specifically relating to Munition.

What do the laws say about this exactly? If he falsely represented himself to her but she technically transferred ownership, how does that work since the horse is/was his property? Also, if she gave him the horse and he promptly sold it to another good home (admittedly for a quick buck), has he done anything she can really nail him for? It sounds like she can certainly sully their reputation a bit, but how much damage can she really do legally?

Just curious about the specifics of the story and if she can legitimately say the horse was “stolen.”

    • fhotd says:

Apparently in Pennsylvania, if you fraudulently misrepresent that the horse is going to a good home (when in fact it is going to kill) it is considered theft (go Pennsylvania). So the police are involved.

And yeah, as I said, she was dumb. But at least she is trying to fix it and not have the horse suffer as a result of her action.

      • TheFreckledWonder says:

Wow, that’s a nice law = ) I wonder what the penalty is.

I agree that at least she’s trying to fix her mistake. Hopefully the horse is safe and sound at a new home with a new owner that was willing to pay more than the KB.

Do we know what this law is called or anything? I live in Pennsylvania and am trying to research this law but all I can find that is even semi-related is regarding misrepresenting a horse to a buyer.

        • Elliot_Elijah says:

I live in NJ and I’ve never heard of this law. Maybe it is not horses, but domestic animals, and horses are considered domestic in this case? Or maybe just a general breach of contract law that actually has nothing to do with animals or livestock? From what I can TELL… no money was involved? So the transaction was, for this properties use of x/y/z, you get the property. The property wasnt used the way it was supposed to by terms of the contract, so the person who handed over the property didnt get their “payment” so it was stolen. That’s sort of how I’m understanding this but I could be wayyy off base.

While I feel bad for this horse and hope it did not make it on the slaughter truck, I don’t feel sorry for the original owner (Mara/Gina/Dr. Feld/???). I just went back and read the original article and the comments that follow. Mara clearly seems to be a few cards short of a full deck. Anyone know how old she is? And if the horse was chronically lame and fresh off the track, why are there pictures posted of the horse being ridden? Of course I don’t agree with $cammers like $am and Chri$ty, but after reading Mara’s comments I have to conclude she brought this on herself. She is provoking more drama than anyone.

Dave and I are trying to place SIX Arabian horses to loving
    homes. These
horses are well-fed, not abused, not ill (to our knowledge),
    socialized, and
well taken care of. However, the father of the family with
    the horses
recently found out that he has brain cancer and due to
    rigorous cancer
treatments, the family is struggling to take care of the
    horses. To date,
one horse has been put down, so Dave and I are desperately
    trying to make
sure this doesn’t happen to another horse!

We would really LOVE it if you could help us find homes for
    these horses.
I’m sending this email with pictures of all of the six
    horses, their
approx. ages, and their sexes. Hope this helps for potential
    new families /
homes to understand a little more of each horse. (If you are
    wondering why
you received this email, it is because I’m hoping either you
    or someone you
know can either take a horse or help us spread the word
    further…. :)

PLEASE spread the word to anyone and everyone that you know
    (or that a
friend / family member might know…).

One important piece of information is that the MALE THREE
    YEAR OLD ARABIAN
HORSE (PICTURED IN FIRST THREE PICS BELOW) MUST MUST MUST BE
    PLACED BY NEXT
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH. IF THIS YOUNG HORSE IS NOT PLACED,
    HE WILL BE PUT
    DOWN THE NEXT DAY!

Dave and I are working very hard to find homes for each and
    every one of the
horses, but obviously we really want to get the little boy
    horse placed THIS
WEEK. Dave is willing to drive any horse to ANY place
    (within reason -
probably not CA – we live in Northern VA) that will provide a
    caring farm.
He will drive the horses to their new homes if necessary.
    And, of course,
    the horses are FREE.

Again, please help us to get the word out. Or, if you can
    take a horse (or
more), we would be delighted to give the horse to someone we
    know.

Our contact information is as follows:
    David cell phone – 571-420-4281
    David email – moseke@comcast.net
    Eleanor cell phone – 703-967-3222
    Eleanor email – eantis@gmail.com

Please pass this information on to anyone that might have a
    horse farm or
know someone else that has a farm. It’s amazing when you
    start asking
around – everyone’s network of people they know is usually
    pretty large, and
often includes someone affiliated somehow with horses….If
    anyone would
like to make flyers to put up in barns, stables, public
    places, or
whereever, please feel free to use the information in these
    two emails.

I want to make sure I am not confusing on this point – there
    is no problem
with placing the horses with different homes – one farm does
    not need to
take all SIX horses. Also, if possible, the three year old
    male from the
first email REALLY needs to be placed this week. We will
    place whichever
horse whenever a farm shows interest in that horse (or
    horses).

Again, THANK YOU for all of the help you have provided to
    date and can
provide in the future!!! We REALLY APPRECIATE AND LOVE OUR
    FRIENDS AND
    FAMILY!!!!!!!

*The horse pictures below (attached) are described as
    follows:*

The first THREE (#1-3) pictures are of the 3 year old male we
    are trying to
    place before next Saturday…
he is not a gelding but we will take care of that if desired
    by the new
    owner.

The second THREE (#4-6) pictures are of the 2 year old
    arabian
    mare (female).
The second picture of the female 2yr old has another female
    standing to the
right of her – ** this is a 9-10 year old female that is a
    mix of Arabian
and Quarter horse. (There are no other pics of this 10 yr
    old female….the
pic I’m describing is named “B 2 year old arabian mare”.)

The two young horses are separated but flirt alot through the
    fence…

They could make a good pair for adoption (again, we will do
    whatever to save
the male’s life too, so if someone only wants the male, that
    is terrific).
    – Hide quoted text -

Next three pictures (#7-9) are of the same 10 year old male.

Tenth (#10) picture is a 20-25 year old mare (female).

Eleventh (#11) / Last picture is an 8 year old male.

The 10 year old (pics # 7-9) and 8 year old (last pic #11)
    get along well
and play like brothers at times.

Again, thank you very much for anything you can do for these
    horses!

I saw this on the Examiner the other day and commented on there. I feel for Mara and hope she is able to recover Munition. I hope she fights to the end.

OT, but interesting in its own right and may even be something to which Mara should look into. At the Camelot auction in New Jersey there is a group of women who volunteer each week to take pictures of and post all of the horses which end up in the killpen. I’ve followed them on Facebook for quite a while (Camelot Horse Weekly is the page). They were featured on their local news last week. I’ve attached a link to the story. In the year (and one week!) they’ve been doing this no horses have left the killpen bound for slaughter. Camelot Horse Weekly was founded by Lisa Post of Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. She’s now joined by several others, including Sarah Andrew, a professional equine photographer who volunteers her time to photograph the horses.

(FHOTD – I’m putting both the link and the embed code. I can’t remember which you need. Feel free to delete whichever is wrong.)

I just finished reading all of the comments on the Examiner. OMFG that woman is insane. The horse still doesn’t deserve this, but OMG she’s nuts. And who is moderating that site? Even my comment, which was one of the first, was deleted. All I said was how sorry I was to hear what happened to him and recommended she look at Camelot. That was right after the story ran and WAY before any of the craziness started. My desk is dented from banging my head. Reading her multiple personalities has given me a migraine.

But I am so glad she’s going to single-handedly shut down the American slaughter pipeline (her words, not mine, since none of us have been working on it for years or anything). Love her recommendation to breed and raise horses for slaughter like cattle. Awesome ideas … WTF?!?!?!?!?!

    • LayTai says:

Yeah… raising horses for slaughter already exists here in Europe… in fact, that’s what some of the draft breeds have been bred for. And it doesn’t prevent riding clubs from sending their oldies, or racehorse breeders sending their slow horses, to slaughter. I’ll take the risk of getting a beating and say that I don’t have a huge beef with breeding for meat… but it’s important to note that this is by NO means a solution to avoid any other horses being sent to slaughter. (Personally, I would like for it to be illegal to send a horse to slaughter after a certain age; this would at least limit the number of race track drop outs and old riding horses that would end up at slaughter, and possibly make it safer for those who choose to eat horse meat, in countries where this is legal.)

I agree that Mara is the be commended for recognizing her mistake and doing everything she can to find Munition. If anyone deserves to have their horse back, it’s her.

I guess for me this is proof that if you want to sell your horse and not risk it being sold to slaughter, sell it yourself. I used to be a horse broker of sorts–I would help people sell their horses and then find people horses. I never bought the horses myself to sell, but I was asked to be a go-between. Many, many times I told the owner they are welcome to be there when I show the horse, they can meet the new owners before the horse is sold, etc. It was important to me that I be as open as possible. But that isn’t always the case with brokers.

And really no sale is without risk. Someone can say they’ll provide a wonderful home and they truly mean it until they fall on hard times and can’t keep the horse anymore. Like you’ve always said, Fugs: The only forever home is yours.

OT and a warning! I live in the Tiger Mt. area of Issaquah. I had two saddles and a bridle stolen out of my barn on Tuesday. My neighbor one street over also had a saddle stolen the same day. She told me that FIVE barns in Fall City, near the arena, were also hit in the last week! They only took my western tack, and left my English tack. My neighbor had four saddles and they only took her Orth Flex. It sounds like they are targeting upper end Western tack. And I am beginning to wonder if they already have a market or buyer for these saddles.

    LOCK UP YOUR TACK!!

Both my saddles are K&S trail saddles. One has barb wire tooling, the other running W tooling. They have rawhide cantles, stirrups and horn. Both med. brown with darker brown padded seats. 15.5″ , with round skirts. The one with barb wire is well broken in, the other one less so. The barb wire saddle has a lot of sentimental value to me.

The bridle is tan leather with silver and green turquoise conchos on the browband and cheek staps. It has a d-ring snaffle bit, with tan rope reins. This also has a lot of sentimenatl value to me.

I filed a police report, but there is no follow investaigation from them. I’ve been checking Craigslist, TackTrader and ebay. I will be calling some local pawn shops. Going to the tack sale at Enumclaw Sales Pav. and tack sale at V2 Farm this Sunday.

    Any other ideas? Thanks!

Why did Mara give Munition away after having him for just a few months? He last raced August 3rd, 2010…

“His owner/trainer Matthew Clarke did the right thing and retired Munition after that disappointing effort; the rigors of a years-long campaign were catching up with him and he had earned a dignified retirement.”

Retirement? I understand that a person’s situation can change quickly, but something doesn’t add up here.

Good question. Hell, he raced in AUGUST? I would be JUST starting him back under saddle now. Did he have no detox time at all?

      • thebossmare says:

Yeah, something isn’t quite right sounding on both parts. It sounds like he didnt really have a chance to relax and detox NOR was he given a chance to be retrained in another discipline (or at the very least in vague non track behavior).

Is what ChriSty is doing right? NO!! But you dont just let your horse go these days with out looking up their names on the internet…At the very least it would have pulled up her name from the Fugly blog. The short span of time from one hand to the other is suspicious enough to throw flags for me.

I hope this horse is parked in a field some where with a third party who is just oblivious to the situation and hasnt seen any of the postings and just loves him to pieces. Some one who doesnt show and just rides for pleasure, and thats why they havent been able to produce him. That way neither side wins, cause it sounds like neither of them sounds like they deserve too.

I just wanted to put this out there that SUNY Cobleskill is selling a handful of horses. They have asked students if they want them but have said if they are not sold by the end of the day on Friday December 3 they will be taken to an auction in Mass. These horses are not completely finished and some are not being used at all. That’s all I know about these horses.

As far as I know they don’t have anything up online. I took some pics tonight when I went up to work my horse. To my knowledge, one is being taken by a student here.

Here is the list that was posted in the barns.

Raw Cat: I don’t know much about this horse. He has a cute face but he seems to be mouthy. That may go away with work but he is not being used at all to my knowledge; just gets turned out/in and sits in his stall. A little boy was petting him tonight when I was taking pictures. I think he needs to be finished. I’d say he’s about 15.3/16h but it’s a guess from looking at the picture.

Derby: He’s another one I don’t know much about. He may be used once or twice a week but I don’t even think he gets that much use. I’ve heard he needs to be finished. I’d guess he is around 16h.

Monty: I’ve seen him being ridden. He spooked at the train and was a little fast but he seemed sweet and willing. Around 15.3h.

Deegan: I know the most about this horse but I don’t have pictures. He’s a chestnut TB with a blaze; big head. He’s tall 16.2h ish. He was used in the lesson program but they fried his brain I guess so he went down to the lower training barn. He’s been for sale all semester. I watched someone ride him. He’s fast. Needs an advanced intermediate rider or better. He does have flying changes but he runs into them a bit. He is pretty good on the ground but doesn’t lunge very well to the right. Hasn’t been used much since September. He had a potential buyer but I guess it fell through. He can be a sweet heart though. One of my favorites on the list.

Loyal: She has been worked with this semester wtc. She may have been started over jumps but not 100% sure. I’d guess her to be around 15.2h.

Bobby: Before I went to the barn I was talking to a couple people about the situation and one of them had made a call and was getting Bobby out. I’m not sure if the person on the phone had called Therese and made arrangements or if that was something for tomorrow. Anyway, Bobby is a goof ball. He’s been worked with by a friend of mine and I have lunged him wtc. He was very well behaved. He’s been under saddle wt (I can confirm this) and he should have been cantering around by now. Big dark bay about 16.1h ish.

They are listed in the sales catalog for the Heritage Farm auction. The auction is Sunday December 5th, tack at 10 am, horses at 2 pm. It’s actually a nice barn, and you can test ride horses ahead of time. They don’t technically allow kill buyers, but last time lots of horses went to the same few bidders for cheap, so who knows. Info is here:

They take horses without coggins and their lessons horses are skin and bones. But if that is a nice place to you I dont want to see what your horses look like lol Obviously you have never been there or you wouldnt be saying what a great place it is…. maybe I will see you there sunday :-)

Let me clarify: Heritage is nice relative to New Holland. I don’t know anything about their lesson horses, only the experience I had at the last auction, where I got a horse that is now healthy and happy with me in CT. Personally I would not board my horses there, but I would go there to save a horse from a sad ending.

Crowleys in MA sells regularly/knowingly to Kill Buyers. They will put the horses through their twice monthly auction. They also get horses from other Colleges/universities. Most of these horses are like the ones at SUNY. Heritage directly sells for slaughter. They don’t bother trying to auction them. They only auction horses that will sell well at their auctions, plus they only have a few auctions a year, and aren’t going to feed and care for horses that aren’t deemed sellable.

I don’t think horses need to be quarantined before going to Canada. They just need a coggins test and an import health form. I think usually a vet has to be on duty at the crossing to check things. Hopefully they can track him down though.

I know when they go to Canada from the West coast, they quarantine at Florence Packing first for like three weeks. I think this is only slaughter horses. Of course, it is possible that you can lie and say horses are not going for slaughter. I have also crossed the boarder without difficulty with pet horses.

“New Equestrian Television Network Launching March 2011

Houston, TX – Boot Media LLC today announced that plans have been finalized for the roll-out of its new horse-focused and country lifestyle television network, and had chosen Houston, Texas as the first local television market for its flagship channel. With more than 5.9 million residents in its seven-country metropolitan area, Houston is the country’s 10th largest television market, and contains one of the most diverse and concentrated populations of horses and horse people in the nation.
Bypassing costly national satellite distribution, which still reaches only a minority of general households in the United States, the company is syndicating the new 24/7 equestrian and country lifestyle network with rifle-shot accuracy into clearly identified high “horsehold” television markets. The network defines horsehold markets as those having high ratios of horses to people within a 100 mile radius of city central. Horseholds encompass urban, suburban and rural areas. In Texas and California alone, the number of homes in just 10 top horsehold cities exceeds the total homes subscribing to the leading satellite provider.
By creating local affiliated channels in each city it serves, the network will build close relationships with its audience, advertisers, and members of the local horse communities. A key component of the network’s commitment to each market is the allocation of four to six hours of free weekend airtime to clubs and organizations in the local horse community. The time can be used at their discretion for show and event broadcasts, meetings or other equestrian activities. Sponsorships of local events will also be part of the ongoing commitment in each market.”

This network will allow 4-6 hours of free airtime!! Rescues in the Texas area may want to use this a a forum to place rescues and educate about overbreeding of horses. Maybe a televised fugly blog??

What a tanlged mess…poor horsie! Most tracks have now implemented “no kill” policies and are sanctioning owners and trainers who send their horses to kill. When those scumbags at Penn got caught sending horses to New Holland, they claimed they gave the horses to somebody who would retrain them for polo. Call me a cynical bitch, but I wonder if this isn’t somebody trying to cover up sending a horse to slaugher to keep from losing barn privileges?

OT, but related to a post I made in the last story’s comment section.

Remember my bemoaning the lack of good arabians in the south? I spoke too soon.

I’ve spent several hours today with an elderly retired couple who need to place the remainder of their Arabian herd that they’ve spent most of their lives maintaining – and doing quite well with. These are NOT your gazelle or teeny Arabs, these are mostly domestic bred with some Polish, BIG working type Arabians. And, they are cheap – cheap enough that I was worried about meat (and sure enough, they’d already been contacted by a buyer, whom they refused).

The catch is that most are untrained – completely. They are very people-friendly and have had regular care (farrier visits not quite up to par but nothing that a good trim won’t fix). AND most all are fat- most of this line are air ferns. They’re also quite large in size.

There’s a 15 year old brood mare, her weanling colt, a 13 year old gelding, and 2- 2 year old fillies left. I bought a big 3 yr old gelding for $150 – he’s an amazingly beautiful and well put together working type horse. The broodie (who is FANTASTIC, but in foal again, of course) is $300, her weanling $150. I didn’t ask on the fillies, but the giant 13 year old gelding he’ll probably want around $400-500 for, as he did have some professional training in the past. The younger stock will come with signed registration applications and their prices are cheaper since that wasn’t done. The broodie and the 13 yr have papers in hand.

If anyone is interested, contact me through Facebook. You’ll deal directly with the owners, I’m just trying to help them get the word out so they don’t have to sift through all the calls of “Will your horse be good for my beginner child?”

And I really have to add that these owners ARE doing good by their horses as much as I think they can. They are keeping their two seniors – a 28 year old mare and 25+ yea old stallion. They had sold off much of their herd already, and are down to facing the hard facts that they’ll never be able to work with them the way they used to. I really got the feeling they were concerned about where they go, which is one reason it’s taken them years to thin out the large herd they once had.

Also, if anyone is in the area (Tennessee/Kentucky border) and wants to foster them, I’ll be happy to help with training.

Here’s the pictures I took today. The owners are old, ill, and I couldn’t exactly ask them to run them around for me, so we got what we got ;) You’ll have to have a Facebook account, I think, but you don’t have to be my “friend”.

Good luck and thanks for caring about them!

Just an update to add that I took responsibility for the broodie and weanling colt (in other words, I bought them), but am still trying to place them in responsible, knowledgeable homes. So for the fillies or the 13 year old gelding, it will be the owners, for the broodie or weanling, me.

If no placement is found by next week, I’m bringing those 3 home to start work, but that will completely fill all available spots at my farm. Between now and then, I’m only asking $100 with references for the weanling, and $300 for the broodmare. Once I have a couple weeks work with the weanling and get his papers sent in, the price will increase a little to compensate. If I have them long enough to get the broodie under saddle and the weanling solid in his ground training, this will go from a fire sale/rescue type situation to a normal sale.

And since several have asked, I’m keeping Khorry. No longer will I search for a good arabian, now it’s time to train him.

If someone is in the area, I would be willing to eat the cost and do a free lease/adoption contract on the broodie and/or foal. This will require site inspections, references, and proof of ID along with the contract. After a year of good care, the ownership is signed over.

Ohhh god. I read over the comments on the examiner link- what the hell??

I don’t understand why we are trying to bring the horse back to this Dr. Feld lady. Instead of helping people find the thing by giving them information and facts, she just rants and raves and accuses everyone of not knowing the story and attacking her. You’re the one who asked for help- you want people to stalk the auctions for this horse, yet give them next to no information on him, and get upset when they ask questions. She is deluded if she thinks munition will end horse slaughter…

You know how you fix a stupid mistake? You learn from it. She admittedly makes a stupid mistake and continues to act like a total idiot.

I do hope they find this horse and he doesn’t end up in slaughter, but I honestly hope someone has him and is caring for him and has no plans on returning him.

I find the PA law interesting. Just what is the definition of a “good home”? How long do they have to be in that home before they are allowed to sell or give the horse away? I can not see how this law is enforceable. With all of the issues in most of the states to get enforcement for simple laws that cover feed and water, they have a good home law? Does this law cover all animals or just horses? I know PA has fairly strict laws about selling dogs, but I don’t know if that includes making sure the new owner has a certain code of care.
I too have to wonder why she was placing this horse she had for such a short time, and is so frantic to get him back. He barely had 90 days off the track and she is selling him? I wonder what his owner or trainer would think of that.
As the old saying goes “That dog don’t hunt”. In other words, it doesn’t make sense and something is fishy!
Either way, where ever Munition is I hope he is safe.

Reading the original story, I had a thought.

It’s possible this horse was shipped to slaughter. He’s full of not-allowed drugs.

Now, when in an American meat plant, you put something in with the meat that’s not allowed – you have to throw out ALL THE MEAT that might be contaminated. If one package of something had salmonella drip on it, you get a recall on the past six months, etc.

If they enforced this, seems like the Canadians would be a little more careful about asking for records. Just a thought.

I’m not sure if I read your post right but I think that you are saying that horses in Canada can be shipped to slaughter immediately. Although this was true in the past, new regulations since… July 1st I think… now say that horses have to be drug-free for six months. If you ship your horse to the auction in Canada now, you have to fill out an equine id form and sign off on what drugs it has received in the last six months. If the horse goes to slaughter and they test the meat and find drugs in the meat because you lied on the form, you get charged for shipping and I believe the meat is thrown out. The European Union is cracking down hard on the quality of Canadian horse meat. So, horses that are coming up from the states now are probably going to a feedlot for six months to make sure the meat is uncontaminated.

Whether or not Mara’s story adds up why won’t AC4H answer questions and WHERE IS THE HORSE? There is another scandal on FB where a woman sent them money via Paypal for a horse and then complained because the horse was still listed as available. She couldn’t get anywhere with emails, calls and faxes, so she posted the story on the PA Broker Horses FB page. She was fobbed off until she revoked the Paypal payment and then, voila, Ms. Sheidy pops up to accuse HER of Paypal fraud. It is just amazing!

And all of you people who say you had a good experience with AC4H – I believe they do the right thing every now and then to keep the donations pouring in, but there is no doubt there is a ton of money and horses that disappear into their hands. It is not rescue, it is horse dealing. I don’t think there is a particle of difference between AC4H, ABR and the brokers. AC4H and ABR are just the propaganda and advertising department for AC4H.

Absolutely correct. CBER did the right thing now and then to keep the donations pouring, too. I mean, I can TELL you some CBER success stories. I know someone who got a lovely mare from them and she events now. I know someone else who got a super nice pony hunter. But for every one of those, I can tell you ten stories about a horse paid for three times that still vanished, poof.

    • analise says:

The sad thing is there are a LOT of people on ABR who really do want to help rescue horses. They’re not doing this to help someone make money off rescue horses, but to get horses out of bad situations and hopefully into good homes. I mean, AC4H isn’t the only rescue that’s benefited from them. Heck, they’ve assisted Gentle Giants in the past (both with raising money to help buy horses at auction before they go to the broker and to help pay for sudden medical issues [badly colicing horse who had to be kept on an IV drip for several days to keep fluids in her]).

But I can’t shake the feeling there’s got to be a better way for them to help since I feel like a lot of that money goes to lining someone’s pockets as opposed to actually helping rescue horses.

A while back I proposed on my blog a Kiva type organization that rescues could apply to for loans/donations when they need money to pull a horse or for a medical problem or whatever. People could just go to the site and choose a group to loan $25 (or however much) to until the money the rescue needs is filled and disbursed. Over time, the rescue could pay that money back and the person could choose whether to get it back or to roll it into another rescue. There’d be a clear line of where the money is going and accountability for what’s being done with it and if it’s done as a loan, the donor can easily then help another rescue without being out of more money.

They ARE good people. I just can’t figure out how to hammer through their heads to give to Angel Acres or Shiloh or Second Chance Ranch or Habitat for Horses or Front Range or Gentle Giants or a ton of other QUALITY rescues I could name, rather than throwing money at criminals! I do NOT get how to make it change.

I just keep coming back to the fact that they’ve hit on something that gives people a “rush” every week of “saving that poor horse from certain doom!”

It’s a lot less glamorous to say, “yeah, we sent $$ to sponsor a horse already in a rescue” than it is to say “we sent $$ to RESCUE A HORSE FROM SLAUGHTER!”.

Even if the truth of the matter is that while the horses might be in a dicey situation (and COULD end up in the slaughter plant)? They are NOT on the direct-to-slaughter-tomorrow route when they’re with the broker. But people don’t like to hear that when it gets brought up on ABR.

I agree with you. It’s the rush. It’s Rescue Crack. And of course there is no similar rush obtained from the daily chores and providing quality care, so THAT doesn’t happen. It’s ALL about ego…100%.

In British Columbia one can google Court Services Online and check an individuals history in regard to small claims court and supreme court proceedings. I didn’t bother checking a trainer I used last spring. If I had I would have saved thousands in training and vet bills. He was away working so the pregnant girlfriend took the money but did little or nothing. He had 19 court dates shown. A warning sign!! One can also do a check at the local court house.

I hope someone who may have this horse returns him to that lady, regardless of the circumstances on how they got the horse. The hero can be someone who rights a wrong, even if they did the original wrong thing. I hope that someone steps up to the plate, with the horse in hand.

Also, I must say that his visual ID of plain-bay-with-no-white makes me gnash my teeth. Am I the only one that photographs swirls in the coat? The locations of swirls are unique for each horse and guess what else? They are there for life! A brand and a tattoo although wonderful do in fact fade – but these patterns of the coat do not. There are swirls on head, the neck, the chest, the hips, the butt, and where ever else you can find them on your horse. A nice winter project would be to catalog each one so that you’re not saying “duh…..” someday. :)

Um, so I’m not a regular reader of the examiner or anything, but they definitely feature Chsisty Sheidy (“Chri$ty?”) as a protagonist in one of their articles.

After reading this story (which I’m not even going to touch), I clicked a link about an Assateague Pony mare that supposedly needs farrier care: http://www.examiner.com/pet-rescue-in-national/assateague-island-wild-pony-need-of-humane-intervention

From that article: “On a recent trip to view the Assateague ponies, Christy Sheidy, co-founder of Pennsylvania horse rescue, Another Chance 4 Horses observed a palomino and white mare with hooves so overgrown they have curled up. Photos of the mare’s overgrown hooves have been found dating back to October, 2006.

” I feel so bad for Pancake. That’s what we named her because of her feet,” stated Selina Sheidy, daughter of Christy. ” When all the other horses were walking around the park, Pancake stayed off by herself and stood on the sandy marsh to cushion her feet. She is definitely low on the totem pole and can’t even defend herself.”

” We rescued a horse with feet almost as bad as Pancake’s a few years ago. When the x-rays were taken of her feet, it showed how the navicular bone had worn away. After a considerable rehabilitation the horse was only ever a companion animal. The previous owners were an elderly couple who were physically and mentally unable to care for the horse, so we were never able to prosecute them for neglect.,” explained Christy who would like to see the mare get some veterinarian intervention.” (Etc. It goes on.)

    Weird…?

This is fairly old news in NJ/PA. Sharon Crumb was collecting money to pull horses from Camelot, then was “boarding” them with a known Camelot dealer. A lot of animals were left out in the cold by her. Earlier this fall I was asked by another rescue friend to feed a starved horse for a month so he’d be strong enough to get to his adopter in MA. Only toward the end of the month did I find out that Sharon had fronted the money to purchase him from the woman who starved him. Of course there was no follow up, no additional care money (that I was told there would be) and the adopter turned out to be a whackjob who bailed on the whole deal 12 hours before the horse was supposed to get on a trailer to her place. Anyway, a couple months of trying to give away a free horse (easier said than done) another NJ rescue stepped up and agreed to take and place him. He was not the first Sharon Crumb rescue that they’ve had to come to the aid of.

On a different note, my experience buying a broker horse though AC4H was very pleasant. I can’t see any reason why Chrity would be “hiding” the horse, as his owner claims. What would be her motivation to do so? I can think of several circumstances where AC4H helped reunite owners with stolen horses that were found at New Holland or Brian Moore’s lot. Not to mention, in the comments of the Examiner article, the owner comes across as a complete psycho.

I also bought a lovely mare thru AC4H. The only problem I had was that there was some confusion(?) on the price of the mare. I did have a horrible experience with ABR trying to raise money for one of Christys horses. I donated a huge amount of money (most of the cost) to bail a horse from AC4Hs broker, and when I didn’t sent the money immediately, the writers on ABR started harrassing me. . I will never send money to Christy again unless I am going to buy a horse from her. Too many people get involved and then no one seems to know how much money has been raised. Where does the extra money go??

OPEN LETTER FROM MARA FELD TO CHRISTY SHEIDY

Dearest Christy, Will all due respect. Enough is enough. Let me make it clear the options you have…
    1) Bring Munition somewhere safe and have a friend call me so we can pick him up and collect the reward of your naming.
    2) If Munition is found that means POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
    3) If Munition is dead that means DESTRUCTION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

The search will continue. If Munition ain’t been up to Canada obviously either YOU hid him or YOU killed him or YOU cut his lip off with the tattoo…but YOU certainly know what happened to Munition.
Do you want your daughters Laura and Selina Kim Sheidy, along with all the other witnesses to be subpoenaed to answer in court as to the telephone conversation occurring at your property at approximately 12 noone?
There are many high-level investigations looking into your “rescue” and other “hidden” horses. The PA attorney general will likely be your new best buddy.
Don’t you think it is time to do the right thing and give Munition back!!!
    Sincerely, Mara

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK THE SUN SHINES OUT OF THE ASS OF CM AND AC4H, ALONG WITH D MURPHY AND AVH, MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ THE FOLLOWING JUST TO ENLIGHTEN YOU ON WHAT CRAP PEOPLE THESE ARE- I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT HORSES SUFFERING IN THE HANDS OF THESE MORONS AND ITS TIME FOR IT TO COME TO AN END: The following was sent to me from Kathie Bothma :I have donated thousands to the AC4H broker horses,… paid the bail in full for several drafts and never learned what happened to them. Except for two. In Dec 2007, I bailed an aged Belgian team, paid the entire price. They dissapeared from the broker pages and never showed up on the adoptables page. I kept asking where they were and how they were. Never could get an answer from Christy. In March 2008, I happened to see they were being shipped to Florida. I AGAIN asked where they had been for three months, no answer. I then said I would take them, so I paid shipping for them to come to me.What follows still enrages me. They arrived on a rusted out OPEN cattle trailer (for $1000 shipping) after a one thousand mile trip. They were both severly starved, bones sticking out, sores on them, covered in maure, hooves overgrown, full of worms and so weak. One was completly blind (NEVER mentioned by Christy) and his back suspensory tendons were torn out making it almost impossible for him to stand or walk. Both were in such terrible condition my vet wanted to euthanize them both on arrival. The blind one lived almost five months, had put on weight and with pain killers was able to get around. He died in the pasture. We still have the other Belgain and he is now healthy, happy and loved. I bailed these horse to save their life. Obviously for three months under Christy’s “care” they never saw a vet, were starved and left to suffer. For THREE MONTHS they were just warehoused somewhere, I beleive they never left the kill buyer’s lot after I paid to get them out. There is NO EXCUSE anyone can give me for the neglect and mistreatment of these two old guysSee More

OPEN LETTER FROM MARA FELD TO CHRISTY SHEIDY December, 5 2010

    AC4C…”ANOTHER CHANCE 4 CHRISTY”

Heeeeey Chri$$$$$$$$TY, There is no escape. There is waaaaaay tooooo much evidence stacked up against you now. Admit it, you hid Munition. NOW is the time to GIVE BACK MUNITION! Apparently you did not understand my email yesterday when I explained your three options.
    1) Return my stolen horse, collect reward or your naming, no questions, no investigation by authority, and mostly I will leave you alone as I am sure you are realizing by now that would be nice….or keep it up….I got endless energy…more than you because I have God with me.
    2) POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
    3) DESTRUCTION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
So that doesn’t sink into your brain? and neither does the fact that federal indictments are likely to end up on your doorstep in the near future?….OK then let me explain it to you in a different way that maybe you will understand. Here are your choices.

Choice #1: Cash in for Munition’s reward and forget about that unhinged psycho Dr. Feld.

Choice#2: Christy lets be friends. Perhaps we are both victims here. Christy let me help you. Christy let me be your mentor. I know this problem didn’t start with you. But you need to be strong and make changes. I know that whatever caused you to be so far deep into denial and compulsive lying is very painful, well-rooted, and difficult to overcome. But it is never too late and I am here, as well as other friends and family; we are here to help you. You are not alone. You can call me 24/7 if you need to talk. Nicely. It starts with you admitting you need help. I had a very difficult childhood and young adult life and I know pain and suffering too, Christy. In spite of my hardships…I survived…and now I have a PhD. Your sweet innocent daughters need you to get on the right track and set an example for them. It is not too late, Christy. I pray deeply you can take the next step forward. The horses and their souls will forgive you, that is their nature. For the people that don’t forgive you…they commit their own sin by not forgiving. You don’t need them anyways. They are irrelevant. Any step forward means you need to gather around you the few people in this world that TRULY BELIEVE IN YOU. And believe it or not, Christy, even after all this. I STILL BELIEVE IN YOU. I STILL BELIEVE YOU WILL DO THE RIGHT THING FOR YOURSELF, YOUR FAMILY, AND FOR MUNITION.

Choice #2a) Get emotional support. There is nothing wrong with admitting you need help. It is NOT admitting you need help that shows weakness. If you need help paying for a therapist appointment or getting to a therapists office please let me know and I will find help. To assist, I have gathered the names of people in your area that could likely help. If the first person isn’t great, please try another therapist. Please just give it a try, Christy. Please.

Choice #2b) Time for a new job. It will take effort. It would be best if the new career of your choosing does not involve animals, children, medical patients, eldery, or mentally challenged people etc. as you do not want any questions, due to your previous behavior, so that the effort you have put toward your new career may be wasted. Christy, I can help you find funding for an education. Please let me in as your mentor and friend. I can help support the new Christy. I am a strong, true, and lasting friend. There are tons of grants, especially for women that want an education. Just let me know and I can help you write up a grant to get yourself funded for college. I can help with any math and science tutoring you might need…or just encouragement to hang in there and do the right thing. Whatever you need to change, Christy I am here to help. Even if you did hide and/or kill my horse, although I admit it will be very difficult if not impossible for me to get over that kind of personal tragedy. Please look into new possibilities (whatever your passion) for the blessing of your life and future and the future of your innocent daughters and your husband Rick. Christy, I found this list from Google “bernville pa college”. They could help find funding too. Just keep trying. Never give up. Be strong and let God direct you to do the right thing.

You know, I just have to say one thing about the whole slaughter horse/drugs issue…did it ever occur to anyone on the receiving end of the meat to test it for drugs, in Japan or France or wherever it is sold? Or are they gullible enough to believe that the people here who are selling horses to a slaughter market are telling the truth? What, do they think we grow them here on the green grass of Wyoming here just for their eating pleasure? It’s no secret that anyone here in the States could take a horse to a slaughterhouse at any time when they were open. This is NOT a new thing. They are only now worried about bute and stuff in the meat? Sounds like closing the barn door after the horse is already out to me. Our meat here is supposed to be tested to be safe for eating, or so they say…do they think we have a USDA for shits and giggles? Maybe we do, but that’s another thread! My point is, it sounds like they’re only now saying “OMG, there could be bute and wormer in this horse steak!!! What if the horse’s owner didn’t hold them for 6 months before sending them to be killed?” No shit, Sherlock!

Well, considering there are people here in the US who think that slaughter horses are humanely euthanized via injection before being cut up for meat I can imagine there are indeed people in horse meat-eating countries who believe that the horse meat they get comes from animals raised specifically for that purpose the way we do with cows.

Many people really aren’t all that well-informed about their food, after all, and there are plenty of folks who use the Internet for, like, email and games and it would never occur to them to go searching for the story on horse slaughter.

    1. Horse $600 Price Negotiable – (Gardner, MA)

Cannot afford to keep so he needs a new home ASAP. This is a steal! 16.3 hand, gelding, thoroughbred. He raced last summer but is pretty relaxed. Gentle. Intelligent. Started beginning dressage and started over poles. Please call to set up a time to visit. Thanks, Mara 608-957-deleted.

This is sort of the pot calling the kettle black..in my opinion.

If he was rehomed by the owner/trainer-I wonder if she had any legal right to sell/rehome him.

Personally, if he is found alive, I don’t think he should go back to her..maybe he should go to CANTER or LOPE or some TB rescue.

What has now been confirmed is that Mara Feld took ownership of Munition on November 1st, from his last trainer and caretaker, Matthew Clarke, promising that she would love and feed and cherish him. Munition was sound for riding when he left Clarke’s farm, in spite of reports to the contrary.

Within three days, on November 4th, Ms. Feld had posted him for sale on the Worcester EBay classifieds, saying that “she could not afford to keep him.” She put a price of $500 on his head. She also listed him on EquineHits.com, EquineConnection.org (for $600), and NewHorse.com (for $1000). What she did not do was to call the people who had entrusted her with Munition; they would have taken him back in a heartbeat. While I cannot second guess her motives in taking on a horse she knew she couldn’t afford, her actions raise many questions.

I just read that Deborah Jones uncovered that this horse was OLD by Mara to Spud Noone for $500 after she got the horse for free.
All this BS that gets posted about AC4H is ridiculous. I looked up their financials on guidestar and everything is in order and they also have audited financial statements available.
I got my horse from the broker program in 2007 and since then, 3 of my friends have as well. One got her horse for free as she put in an application to get approved. I have also personally visited this rescue and have seen how modestly the Sheidys live. They drive older cars, their truck and trailer is old, their house is small and modest. THEY LIVE FOR THE HORSES so for people to say they are lining their pockets is an out and out lie. If they are making all this money, where’s it going because you certainly can’t see it in their home, their vehicles, their clothing, nothing! They are simple people just trying to make a difference.
Here is the link and text to the latest article by Maureen Harmonay who after blatantly slandering individuals and organizations she writes an ‘oops’ article. I think FUGLY, Mara, Maureen, and Deborah Jones owe AC4H and apology for misrepresenting the truth! Creating mass hysteria and spreading lies is not journalism, it’s libel and slander.

    http://www.examiner.com/equine-advocacy-in-national/munition-s-story-is-one-of-lies-betrayal-and-ultimately-tragedy

When I wrote about the story of Munition, the thoroughbred gelding who Mara Feld gave to dealer Spud Noone after receiving promises that Noone would find him a “good home” nearby, not all of the facts of the situation were clear.

In the seven days since that story was first published, there is still no clarity about Munition’s current whereabouts, though it is apparent that one or more people involved in his disappearance know exactly where he is, but aren’t telling. With each day that goes by, the likelihood of his ever being found alive further diminishes. There have been occasional tips and glimmers of hope, but they all seem to lead only in circles. They have not led to Munition himself.

Ms. Feld has made much of the fact that the Gardner, Massachusetts police were investigating what she termed as the “theft” of Munition, after she reported that Spud Noone had taken the horse under false pretenses, and failed to deliver him to a good home. But Deborah Jones, a private thoroughbred investigator who has been working diligently to find out what happened to the horse, has been told by the Gardner police that though they took Ms. Feld’s complaint alleging that Munition was stolen, they are no longer actively pursuing this case because the evidence shows that she gave the horse to Mr. Noone, rather than sold him.

That turned out to be a fatal mistake, and Munition paid the price.

Ms. Jones has dedicated herself to finding Munition not because he was stolen, but because she hoped to save his life, if indeed he was still alive. She has contacted kill buyers, slaughterhouses, haulers, and virtually everyone she could think of who may have seen him. But let one thing be clear: if she finds him, Munition will be going back to his original owner, Matthew Clarke, who is the one offering the $1000 reward for his recovery. And as for Ms. Jones, the only reward she wants is to know that Munition is safe.

Yes Christy Sheidy hid my horse on Nov.22nd and there is still a $2000 reward…no questions…and I will drop lawsuits if the horse is returned. Deb thinks she runs the world and to state she would not return the horse to me? That is larceny and conversion of property. I don’t like her one bit but I won’t say I am therefore going to take her house and car away. She wants to make it look like Munition is dead when she has no proof! Deb says “This is why the CFIA was contacted in the hope of them finding the paperwork and sharing that information. Although my opinion is that even if it were found it would not benefit the Canadian slaughter business to make that information public.” So where is the proof Munition is dead? He could very well still be alive and hidden. I never gave Munition away in any way. Noone had a contract the transport not own Munition. I am happy to speak with people to explain any questions they have and clear things up. The first time I talked to Deb (wish I never had anything to do with her now) she was happy to “have a toxicologist on the team”. And the phone records show there are many many calls and emails back and forth between Deb and I as we worked to find Munition. So that her story above that she thought I was a nut from the beginning simply is a lie. She decided to frame me as the bad guy when the police said I “gave” the horse…well the police are wrong and this decision is up to a Judge and I filed my own criminal complaint. Deb wanted to “cover her rear” she said with the “lies and betrayal” article (all libel). Now she is trying to cover up the situation with Munition. I see no proof what happened to Munition. Just Deb trying to frame me as the bad guy and build up an army against me and bully in her high school fashion. Seems the horse rescues, detectives, rescue posts work together to keep these horses stolen. This will go to court if the horse is not returned. Joseph (Spud) F. Noone, Chuckie Beam, Brian Moore, Phil Shirk, Dr. Jim Holt, Sheidy family, Petite Nation in Quebec will be held accountable. Also Debbie Jones and Maureen Harmonay will be held accountable for libel, defamation of character, internet bullying, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Seems evil people are coming out of the woodworks.

Munition is dead? What is the evidence? Deb must have some motive? Munition could very well still be hidden. Keep an eye out for Munition and spread the word. The reward is $2000. We are waiting for a Judge after the holidays…so NOW is a good time for Munition to mysteriously turn up and I will walk away quietly. I will not fall prey to this hoax. Mara

BREAKING NEWS: COMMENT FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS SOMEONE INVOLVED WITH THIS SCAM PERSONALLY:
Munition is dead–the trainer who sold him to Mara Feld/Gina Holt for $1.00 discovered that he went through a Canadian slaughterhouse–he had sold the horse to her thinking it was going to a good home–she then turned around and sold it to …Noone–then when the trainer contacted her to check on the horse and she did not have it, that is when SUDDENLY it was “stolen” and she started harrassing people about it, trying to take the heat off herself. She is the one who sold the horse after having it for only days, to a known dealer who will sell to killbuyers. The trainer hired a PI to try to track down the horse, that is when the true story came out about her selling the horse; that is also how the trainer found out Munition went to slaughter. My feeling is it was her intent the whole time to make some $$$ off this horse; she just didn’t think she was gonna get caught. This Mara Feld/Gina Holt needs to be kicked off FB for harrassment. You are not the only one she is continuously contacting. The trainer would have taken Munition back immediately if this nutjob didn’t have the money to take care of him–due to her greediness a very nice horse went to its death

Oh no it is me Mara Feld – Gina Holt – Munition Smith. This is ridiculous….Ms. “Deb Jones” / “dontlike scammers”…this is SO OBVIOUSLY YOU. Queen Scammer! Paypal to “save” and BFF with Christy Shady. So you admit you are “involved in this scam personally”? no shit Sherlock. LET ME CORRECT YOU Deb and have the TRUTH speak for itself. Clarke did not care about the horse. He never “called me to check on the horse”…want to see the phone records…I got them. We called them and said we were going to the police. That is just your job to warp the story as you have been doing all along. “I made him lame” “slaughter in 48 hours” etc etc etc BS BS BS. Really you seem like a fool. Call me “Whack Job” and “Nut Job” and “STFU you idiot” but I think you make yourself look like a fool. Keep it up Debbie Deb Deb Deb.
Who said you could steal my horse Deb Jones? Contact Deb Jones about Munition?…well HE IS MY HORSE and the COURT WILL SET THIS STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Eventually you will lose all your credentials as a detective because you are so unprofessional and a severe liar. You are so full of crap Deb how do you even get around? So Munition was slaughtered? Canada didn’t know that. So where is the meat recall? How could there be evidence??? that I “sold” to Noone when I did NOT!!! as you yourself state above as Deb Jones. He only agreed to transport the horse and he is expected to appear in court for Larceny by False Pretense. My attorney (the witness) explained that to me, not some Clarke put me on the spot about where is Munition BS! How can I be “greedy” for negative profit? I wanted Munition to find a home…end of story.
I don’t buy the PI bullshit. If he cared/had money for a PI why didn’t he buy the horse from Moore? I did the PI work in Nov. Who is the “PI” hmmmmmmmmm D JONES-biased racetrack BS- D JONES. I am sure you want the world to believe the horse was slaughtered more than you want world peace. Deb doesn’t care if it is real or not just that messages like the one above convince the public that D Jones story is true and Clarke is good and Mara is bad????? I don’t “harass” anyone…I ask questions to try and understand what happened to Munition. I do not appreciate you accusing me of “harassing” and since only a JUDGE can conclude such…your statement is LIBEL. We will see you in court Deb Jones. All in good time. If anyone should seriously “STFU” it is you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
