— OK I just got an email showing that this was apparently an EXTREMELY unfortunate name choice by a lady named Cheryl Luper who is not associated with Storybook Farm in Issaquah. We’ll hope they reconsider – they’ll certainly have better luck with a different name! –
The latest chapter in the Hercules saga…
There are no words…honey, stick to things you can change like your bra size and your hair color. Your reputation is shit and you’re deluded if you think anybody is going to trust you with a rescue animal. And I will follow your ass to the ends of the earth if you try to suck donor money out of people to support your Ferrari habit.
So any locals want to show up to the library and check this out? I suppose there’s a slight chance it’s someone unrelated (even though the name and location are the same) but if so, they need to be tipped off they just chose a name about as bad as Charles Manson’s ChildCare!
And Wendy, if IS you? Start sending Second Chance Ranch $350 a month to take care of the horse YOU dumped, you know the one YOU should have provided “sanctuary” to in the first place! There’s a good first rescue for you – your OWN horse that you SHOULD have taken responsibility for.

It’s funny. The world is small and ironic. I had contacted Wendy a while back regarding a barn manager position she was seeking to fill. I friend of mine boards her horse there. I’ve been there to ride. When I spoke to Wendy, she had already filled the position by the time we had our conversation. I watched, and the job opened back up again about a month later. Ad on CL. And I’ve seen one again on CL that looks suspiciously like the same job. I guess I am somewhat outing myself here. Ah well.
I’m glad the universe saw fit for me to not be selected for the job. Had I been there when she did this to that horse, I would have walked off the job. Or not have allowed it to happen and been fired. I don’t know if I could have made a difference, but I’m glad I never had to be put in the situation of facing it.
BTW….I am still looking for barn job if anyone out there is looking. I have a bevy of references and a resume that rocks. Excuse the self promotion. If I ever visit my friend at Wendy’s barn, I will be sure to wear my Hercules shirt should they be made available for sale.
That is all.
If you have a friend at Storybook, how’s that working out? I, personally, would have a hard time keeping my horse with a barn owner with those values.
I’ve talked to her. She is aware of the situation and assures me that she is ok. I was concerned and contacted her after this all came to a head. Trust me, she is a savvy woman and if anything is amiss with her horse, it will be addressed. No fear in that regard.
Let’s get this part over with right up front:
No, I’m not Wendy, or her hubby, or any relative of hers, or “a friend she recruited to stick up for her”. I *AM*, however, someone in a position to know – not guess, not speculate, not run my mouth without having a clue, not piss and moan about something I heard from somebody who knows a guy who met the woman who does the fingernails of the infamous Wendy, but *KNOW*, beyond *ANY* possibility of a doubt, how things work at Storybook. And I’m getting tired of Fugs bad-mouthing the place when she doesn’t have even the first clue what the reality is.
Give it a rest, kids –
Storybook Farm ain’t the “new rescue” that’s having the meeting. Or at least, not Wendy’s Storybook Farm. (No telling if there’s another one floating around out there, and personally, I couldn’t care less if there is – More power to ‘em)
The horses at Wendy’s get the best care humanly possible – I’m in a position to know this for a fact.
Cathy doesn’t like the reality that a horse owner is free to dispose of his/her horse(s) as they see fit. Well, Cathy, here’s a clue for you: Get over it. You’re throwing fits because you don’t like the way someone else “plays with their toys”. Oh well. Too bad for you.
Y’see, Cathy, there’s a thing here in the US of A called “Private property”, and the reality is, however much you may dislike it, private property is exactly that: the property of the owner, to be done with EXACTLY as he/she desires within the confines of the law. Let’s use one of the Ferraris you’re so keen on bashing Wendy about as an example – Let’s assume I have one of my very own. That means taking it and driving it around a race track, or loading up a rifle and shooting it full of holes, or painting it candy-apple-red, installing solid gold trim in place of the factory-issue stuff, and otherwise “pimping it out” as far as is physically possible, or pouring a can of gas over it and throwing a match at it are all PERFECTLY VALID DECISIONS FOR ME TO MAKE in regards to what becomes of it. (Well, torching it would probably get the EPA or similar bitchg about pollution, but I think you *MIGHT* be smart enough to get the point I’m trying to make)
No matter which of those choices I make (or if I choose none of them, and do something else entirely) it’s MY decision to make, and nobody – not You, Cathy, not any of the readers here, not any of the sycophants that hang on every word you post looking for somebody to “pile onto”, *NOBODY* has any standing, legal, moral, or otherwise, to do a damned thing about it.
Sure, you’re free to not like it, but that’s where your freedom ends: Not liking it. You can bitch about it if you like – That’s fine, too. But as far as actually trying to do anything about it, you’re over the line.
Same thing applies to how a person disposes of a horse he/she owns – The choice is theirs to make, and if you don’t like it Get over it – that’s your problem. Your only option is to offer to buy the critter. At which point, it becomes *TOTALLY* your problem – the old owner doesn’t owe you jack shit.
You’ve already crossed the line that separates “my opinion” from “libel/slander” with several statements you’ve made here, Cathy – The most easily proven (but not the only) one being your repetition of the outright *LIE* that the boarders were told Tiny/Herc “died in her arms”. Hint: No such thing was told to ANYONE. In fact, the boarders were not told *ANYTHING WHATSOEVER* about the disposition of Tiny/Herc. Not that he was leaving, not where he was going, not what his final destination was going to be – *NOTHING*. Why should they be? It wasn’t their horse, and therefore, it wasn’t their business. In fact, the universal response from the boarders when they were told after you decided to try to “name and shame” Wendy was a variation on “Uh, OK, so why are you telling me this? It was your horse, why shouldn’t you be able to do with it what you please?”.
Of those boarders, two who were short-timers (Escaping from another barn, looking for someplace else, expected to be around for at most a month or two) found another place, and have left. Other than that, the same roster of boarders is still in place, all of them happy with the arrangements.
So, Cathy, THAT effort of yours has failed. In fact, there have been multiple “Got any open stalls?” enquiries from people citing this blog and your lame attempts to shit on the farm as the reason they want in – to “spit in your face”, so to speak.
So you’re failing THERE, too.
Continuing attempts to extort money from Wendy are just that: extortion attempts. Her responsibility for that horse ended the moment the gavel came down at the auction. He was sent to pack, and that’s where he was supposed to end up. The fact that somebody was foolish enough to snatch him up before he got canned doesn’t obligate Wendy or anyone else to pay that someone ANYTHING. There will be no money coming – They bought the horse, it’s their problem to deal with now. And good luck with that… I see you’ve noted some “issues” – You ain’t even seen the SURFACE if what you’ve mentioned is all you’ve seen, problem-wise, from him. He can be a sweety, but he can just as quickly turn into a downright dangerous monster with zero notice. Don’t turn your back on him in a stall, and if he comes at you in the open, be ready to stand your ground, ’cause if you don’t, he’s going to do you serious harm – You run/dodge/similar, and the “game” is on for him, and you’re likely to wake up in the emergency room wondering what the hell happened and why you’re in so much pain.
As a last note, I find it interesting/amusing that SCR was one of the outfits that Wendy talked to before finally shipping him to auction. They didn’t bother to even respond with a “No thanks”, when he was offered to them. But now that he’s got “built in drama”, they’re all over him like white on rice. That’s just too funny.
Anyway, I’ve said my piece, and I expect it will last here on the board in plain sight for just about as long as it takes Cathy to pull it down (I believe your “I don’t squelch people” statements ALMOST as far as I can throw a horse, Cathy, so don’t bother wasting your breath claiming otherwise – either nuke it or leave it – don’t talk about it)
Regardless, you’ve heard all that I’ll bother to say on the subject.
Oh, and Cathy, PLEASE try to track this comment to its source. It’ll be amusing watching your attempts. I said it at the start, and I’ll say it again here, I’m NOT Wendy, or anyone speaking for her. She’d probably be pissed if she knew I was saying this much, since she’s of the opinion that you aren’t even worth bothering to respond to, but hey, I’ve finally reached my fill of how much of your bullshit I can swallow and not speak up about it.

I don't squelch anything, particularly when the content of it PROVES MY POINT even better than anything else I previously posted ever has!
Regardless, you’ve heard all that I’ll bother to say on the subject.

OK, I totally f’ed up the formatting. I apologize to those of you I’m about to give a migraine to…
Although horses are technically property they are still living things that feel pain and can suffer. If you throw away a car that has faithfully served you and turn it into a metal cube instead of selling it to a new owner, who cares, the car doesn’t know the difference. On the other hand a horse can definitely tell the difference between a nice new home and a double decker ride to Mexico ending in a painful death.
If you feel no respect for the service that horses give to us in return for their food and board and think that horses are just “toys” that you have the right to throw away at any time, then you are just as bad as Wendy. What Wendy did may not be illegal, but it is certainly unethical, cheap and downright cruel.
Regarding the rescue not wanting to take Tiny/Hurc. when Wendy emailed them I think that makes complete sense. If you were an organization with limited funds to help, wouldn’t it make more sense to use that money to rescue horses that are already in horrible situations with no one to help them, rather than horses with owners who are perfectly financially capable of taking care of them?
Nameless…..I understand that the horse has issues. I was told that as well. All that aside, why did Wendy not choose to do the humane and responsible thing and just put the horse down on her property? Even though he has some personality quirks, he did serve her well in the show venue, and for that alone, he earned a decent disposal. Not a trip in an over crowded truck to a nasty death? If put to sleep and taken off by the rendering truck, his carcass is therefore recycled and not wasted. I had to do this to my own beloved gelding not but a few months ago, albeit to colic, but he was a 20 year old retired event horse with soundness issues. I would NEVER subject a horse to the ills of slaughter that I cared about. And trust me, I am not all against the ban of slaughter as I do think it serves a purpose. I do object to the methodology of today in the way it is done and do believe a change in standard needs to be addressed.
The bottom line, and my opinion, is Wendy opted to take the cheap route out and perhaps even a little “get back at him” attitude for his misbehavior…just MY opinion from the way it looks on the outside looking in. Yeah, euthanasia and rendering would have cost her about $500 all told…I know since I am still making payments to my vet for the disposal of my horse. Still, it’s a drop in the old bucket in comparison. Yes, horses are a business for many and a sentiment for most. Storybook is a very nice facility for certain. I won’t argue that and I am certain the care is stellar, otherwise my friend would not have her horse there. She’s pretty picky and deservedly so.
I just think it makes Wendy look bad. And that is my opinion and worth very little I am certain. Call me an asshat if you wish, but I won’t waver on this no matter what information comes to light. Event horses are a special ilk and deserve a decent disposal. Slaughter at this time is in no way decent.
Wow, just wow. Dear nameless, won’t you please, please, please switch hobbies to Ferraris and other inanimate objects? You are right you can do whatever you see fit with these things and none of us would care less but the fact that you just compared this horse to one; that is absolutely disgusting. Oh and your logic is a bit faulty anyways. There are laws, albeit not always great ones, that say you cannot do whatever the hell you want with your “property” when said property is an animal. Why do you think people go to jail for starving their horses or microwaving their kittens? Yes, what this lady did was not illegal. She had the “right” to dispose of her horse the way she did, I don’t think anyone is saying otherwise. What a lot of us are saying is shame on her! She apparently had the money to do right by her horse. If she’d had him euthed no one would have thought anything about it. But no, she had to make that last little dime out of him. And apparently, as you make it sound just for revenge. Pitiful!
And I haven’t been reading this blog very long but it amazes me how many posts are put up that include phrases like, “I’ve said my piece, and I expect it will last here on the board in plain sight for just about as long as it takes Cathy to pull it down…” Seriously, if Cathy does censor comments she doesn’t do a great job of it. You’d think the ones she’d want to censor would be the ones accusing her of censoring.O_o Just sayin’
As a perfect manifesto of what’s wrong with the people who get outed here, Nameless’s post is certainly on the short list. Good lord. I hope there is a place in the next life where God gets to do what he likes with his property, i.e. you, and does to you what you seem to think is perfectly appropriate for you to do to his creatures in your care. I don’t know if there are eternal slaughterhouses in hell, but a more appropriate destination is hard to envision.
In the somewhat unlikely event that Herc was mean to these people, it’s just a sign of good judgment on his part. Go Herc!
I am the first to admit that Herc can be pushy on the ground. But I have also heard eyewitness accounts of Wendy roundpenning the living shit out of him (a SEVENTEEN HAND HORSE! good lord I don’t think that EVER belongs in a round pen) and I’m willing to bet this is what created the pushy attitude. He is not some kind of killer attack horse…we’ve had the damn horse since DECEMBER and the worst thing he has done is be pushy/challenging when loose in the arena. Has not bitten, has not winged kicks at anyone, has not ever been rude in the stall to my knowledge and I’ve cleaned the stall around him.
Gee, maybe he’s acting better because…he hurts less and we’re nice to him…ya think?
Dear Nameless Idiot,
First off, what the fuck are you on that you see no difference between a car and a horse? No, honestly, I would enjoy knowing, because I would -love- to be as out of it as you are. I would love to be able to see a car left in a junklot and a horse left in a feedlot and think of them as the same thing.
Tell me, NI, if I were to have a child, that would be my property, yes? So does that mean I could riddle it with bullet holes and abuse it all I want? Does that mean I could leave it to die? Would that be okay with you, because I had that baby and it is therefore my property?
Somehow, I doubt it.
See, that is a much better comparison. They are both living things. They are both able to feel pain–cars cannot.
As for Herc leaving, I ride at an A-circuit hunter/jumper barn that not only regularly hosts our area circuit shows, but state level shows. At any given time, we have 150+ horses on the property, and at least twice that amount taking lessons. And yet, if anyone walked by a stall that was open (though it would never happen, as we have a waiting list just to be considered to board), questions would be asked. If a horse disappeared overnight, you can bet your ass everyone in the barn would want to know what happened. Part of that is being a responsible rider and/or owner (what if that horse had suddenly died from something infectious? Every owner would want to ensure their horses weren’t at risk.), and part of it is being a community. Of horse lovers, of admirers, of people who actually give a damn. Now, we have our share of barn queens, but for the most part, nearly everyone actually cares about horses. And even those who are just in it for the looks notice when something’s wrong.
So I don’t know, the assertion that no one questioned a missing horse seems a tad off.
Now, could everything at SB be fine and dandy? Sure, I don’t know. And if it is, kudos. But that doesn’t make her abandoning her former show horse any better. And it certainly doesn’t excuse it.
Oh, I LOVE IT! Nameless can’t figure out that “bitching about it†is EXACTLY what people are doing! Does Wendy Hsue have a right to send her horse to auction with “kill only†instructions? Absolutely! Has there been any real dispute about this? No. But Nameless has the gall or perhaps the limited comprehension to confuse outrage with extortion.
And does “the best care humanly possible†include low-end auction, double-decker transport and slaughterhouse? Did Nameless get the part about the horse being taller than the transport van? Are hours (days?) of travel with scraped withers and buckled knees part of “the best care humanly possible?†Nameless has scary low standards. What about accusations that Wendy overworked her horses and rode them lame? How could Nameless possibly know that did not happen?
As far as the car, I could agree that “*NOBODY* has any standing, legal, moral, or otherwise, to do a damned thing…†about “…shooting it full of holes, or… … pouring a can of gas over it and throwing a match at it…†but WHAT A CREEPY metaphor to use for a living creature! There are certainly moral grounds to object to cruel treatment of an animal, and Wendy requested just such cruel treatment when she sent her horse to auction with “kill only†instructions.
Nameless says it is an “outright *LIE* that the boarders were told Tiny/Herc “died in her armsâ€. Hint: No such thing was told to ANYONE.†So Nameless knows this because… why? Because the other boarders did not admit to any such conversation? Because Wendy told him so? Well, frankly, if I knew Wendy had sent her horse to slaughter and she told me he “died in my arms†at the vet, I wouldn’t be talking either. I would believe that Wendy was a cruel, lying sociopath and I would get myself out of her way.
Nameless asserts that Hercules is a dangerous animal that can “turn into a dangerous monster,†capable of doing “serious harm,†and that “you’re likely to wake up in the emergency room…†Yet Nameless finds it “interesting/amusing that SCR was one of the outfits that Wendy talked to before finally shipping him to auction.â€
What??? Wendy thought the horse was THAT dangerous and tried to fob him off on someone else? She thought he could do someone “serious harm†but it was worth the chance of putting someone in the hospital so that she could avoid paying to euthanize him? Since Nameless was in a position to know “for a fact” everthing happening with Wendy Hsue, Nameless certainly had a “standing, legal, moral, or otherwise,†to prevent human injury, rather than simply be amused. Oh my. Does this mean Ron the kill buyer could sue Wendy and Nameless?
And Nameless, people also have the right to moral outrage when someone (especially someone who is wealthy) tries to take advantage of the scarce resources of a charitable organization. These horse rescues don’t exist so rich people can reduce their bills.
“And Nameless, people also have the right to moral outrage when someone (especially someone who is wealthy) tries to take advantage of the scarce resources of a charitable organization. These horse rescues don’t exist so rich people can reduce their bills.”
Yes, I particularly enjoyed the admission that Wendy TRIED to get a rescue to take her problem off her hands (without of course ever offering to PAY for that service). Thanks so much Nameless, for making Wendy look even worse. With friends like you…
Yes, with friends like Nameless…
If we believe Nameless that Herc was a “downright dangerous monster” who is “going to do you serious harm,” how does that reconcile with Wendy Hsue’s Craigslist ad where she described him as a “Goofy giant… …a total charactor and fun to be around… …He is like a big dog comes when he is called, loves on everyone and tries to play all the time.” Hmmm. Was Wendy Hsue caught lying once again? Or is Nameless lying about being in a “position to know” all that Wendy said and did?
And did Wendy truly tell auction personnel that Herc was “kill only” because Wendy did not want anyone to waste money on rehab… that is to say, did she fail to warn them that the horse was “a downright dangerous monster?” Seriously, is that just immoral or is that illegal? There oughtta be a law…
So is Hercules a dangerous monster or is Wendy Hsue a morally corrupt liar?
LMAO. Thank you, I crown you Queen of Noticing Logical Inconsistencies!
and I vote for #2. Been around Herc enough at this point not to think he has any issues that weren’t human created. And even at that – he’s not an attack horse.
Are you referring to Story Book? We happen to have a local rescue by the same name I believe. However, they are good rescue and will only take animals that are referred to them by local veterinarians as needing special care. They don’t go out looking for rescues nor do they take in any critters whose owners just want to dump them. Most of their animals seem to be smaller critters – goats, sheep, potbellied pigs, and the occasional pony.
If there is a Storybook Farm rescue that is in Issaquah that is not associated with the Storybook Farm that is in Issaquah, then oooh boy it’s time for a name change!
Seriously! That and if I were the barn that was linked to her Storybrook farm on google, I’d have a large disclamer *No Longer associated with Wendy Hsue*
She should send a monthly donation to SRC. That would be one step in the right direction. You may have done a horrible, horrible thing but you can at least do ONE right thing. Has anyone e-mailed to see if it’s a different rescue or if it’s Wendy? I doubt it is her. That would require some sort of a heart.
http://www.wildponybeast.blogspot.com
I bet they are related to her, though….didn’t the article say dentists and dental hygenists were organizing the meeting? And isn’t her husband a dentist? Those are two coincidences that are a little too close….
The first listing had the dentists. The Storybook listing was the second one. The phone numbers are also different.
SOrry OT…but OMG..did you see this site on CL for paint stallions…poor guys.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/grd/1626012573.html
Sorry for leaving the site, I am new to posting and don’t know how to do it the right way.
As for Storybook Farms, I did a pretty extensive search and only can find 1….so don’t know….
homozigus… that’s a new one, lol.
This must be one of those cases where the owner knows nothing about horses or what it means to be “homozigus” but has heard a lot of horse people say it about paints and so incorrectly assumes that the word must describe all paints… “Hmm, that guy down the road always uses the word homozigus when he’s talking about his paints, so I guess mine must be too, right?! Must be some of that there fancy paint lingo, so I better use it to describe mine if I want them to sell…”
Dear people putting their stuff on CL. Is it so hard to brush the mud out of your horses first?! Damn, I brushed my mare until she shone, just so I could take photos for my blog!
I think they’d be pretty geldings.
God only knows what the tarp is covering on that first one.
I got a reply from the guy…..OMG…he wants $2000 each! poor babies!
What are the ods it’s not her? It’s Issaquah, and it’s Storybook Farm. What a strange place to meet. Why not Storybook itself?

I may be relocating in the near future to the Issaquah area and have had a lifelong passion for helping animals.
I am very experienced with caring for cats, dogs and horses and would love to discuss the opportunities and possibilities with Storybook Farm Animal Sanctuary.
What type of animals are you planning on helping? Where will the sanctuary be located? If things work out and I do relocate, I would be available to volunteer extensively and would want to purchase our home nearby (not much of a commuter).
I appreciate your time and consideration.
Already did! Can’t wait to hear back tehehe.
I really really really really hope someone shows up at the meeting and outs her evil ass. If I lived closer I would. I wonder if there is a public bulletin board at the library… Someone could take a more passive aggressive approach and print up some flyers with photos of Wendy, Herc and a warning…
Mine got kicked back too =(
I do not give up easily when I’m in MythicalBlinker mode……check back for progress.
OT. something good to compare conformation with
horse giraffe cammel cross

But it’s a PURDY color! Whoever bred that train wreck must have bred this one too:

Have the fake tails come off the horses and now being put on the children?
Oh, no! The fake pageant hair! I’ve seen it once before at the App youth worlds, and I was struck with fear that it might become a trend. People, please, for the love of all that is good in this world do not put fake hair on your daughter when she shows her horse. It is distracting and just downright stupid. Actually, don’t ever put fake hair on your daughter, unless your are a pageant mom, in which case your are beyond help anyway. Sorry for the OT fake hair rant!
But what I REALLY love are the “gunts” on those women. Keep rockin’ the FUPA, laaadies.
At least it looks like she’s got a great kid’s horse – it’s more than half asleep in every picture!
Hopefully the unfortunately named rescue is just being started up now, so they can easily change it. If they’re established, I don’t see why they should feel it’s necessary to change.
Oh My! Wow……what is the point of that? I understand wanting to look good while showing. Although I have never showed, but isnt dressing up to that extent taking away from the horse and the horses talent?
I tried to send an email and it was sent back too. I bet she pulled it because of the amount of responses to it in such a short time or she saw you had it up here. May they posted on there to see if you would find it and post it….Rich people have no lives so god only knows whats up with it. I hope they put up some thing else and keep doing stupid stuff until they give up all together.
I think she found out it was up here. But duh, the newspaper isn’t invisible!
Why do they always have to go and ruin our fun
I wonder if the phone number is still a working number?? Im an east coaster or I might give it a try….has anyone called it?
Apparently it’s not her – I revised the main entry. It’s just someone else who made a super unfortunate choice of name – and in the same exact city!
What a fool. This would be funny if the well-being of an animal hadn’t been run.
Read down further in that volunteer column:
“Start the New Year off right and help homeless and abused animals. Help build a great sanctuary. The King County shelter is closing and there is a need for more sanctuary and no-kill shelters. This group is new and needs a lot of help to get up and running. It’s in desperate need of an experienced fundraiser for an upcoming walk. It also needs help for upcoming charity and fundraising events. Call 891-5869 or e-mail storybookfarm01@gmail.com.”
Different email and phone number – interesting! Is the King County shelter really closing?
Yes. The KCS is closing.
Is this woman serious? How is she not so ashamed of herself that she would bow out of the rescue business altogether? Sigh…I guess she has enough like company that she need not be embarassed by her actions. My friends and family would string me up by my toenails and beat me with 2x4s if I ever pulled half the shit these people do, and yet they seem to just keep getting away with it and smelling like roses within their social circles. It never ceases to amaze me how many morallly bankrupt asshats there are out there.
I’m heading up to Sugarcreek within the next few weeks to fill the empty stall, should I keep track of what goes through for you to post fugly?
Yesterdays post got me thinking about putting together a database of auction results. Maybe record the numbers for a year and then take out that ad that was mentioned in the comments. It would be pretty eye opening I bet. I would be happy to maintain the data and put it together. Heck I’m sure I could easily come up with a simple standard form people could print out and take with them to record the info.
OT
craigslist ad looking for a “wounderful” home for their throughbed/arab gelding.
http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/grd/1622278586.html
Poor swaybacked guy.
Wow. “Wounderful” is the least of the issues in that ad. Man. I fear for our language as coming generations spend more and more time online and decide even marginally proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar are optional or just plain irrelevant. And what’s with the all caps??? Most 7 year olds understand that it’s the print version of yelling and it’s damn hard to read. It’s a little shocking she spelled thoroughbred right. That usually gets most people.
Back to the horse though. Kind of a sweet face, and I’ve known a lot of sway backed horses that are quite sound to ride through old age. Plus it’s a very nice deep seat for little kids learning how to ride if you can get the tack fitted right (bareback works great!) (Though they did say he’s “not for beginners” while at the same time being a “claim ride” and not being “hiper.” Ugh. I hope he ends up in a good spot.
Just to play devil’s advocate here, it does mention that they were involved in a car accident, maybe a head injury plays a part in the terrible spelling.
For those of you wanting to read this ad without your eyes bleeding TOO much, I put in “normal” letters to show a friend. So here you go!
“” I have a 15 yr old..sorrel Thoroughbred cross/Arabian.For Sale.A Gelding..Hes broke to ride..not…for beginners..got to be an experienced rider/handler….not hiper….his a claim rider…for his breed…he needs to be refreshed..cause he hasn’t been ridden. in a while….cause I wus recently involved in a terriable car crash/accident..where I lost my uncle in this crash..he use to pay..feed for him..etc..now hes gone..so..I cant by,, my self afford too keep my sweet boy..nor have the time..I was almost lost too in the crash…my boy nees a wounderful..loving forever great home.. Thanks, I couldn’t bear to read all caps. Although the translated version is depressing. What is wrong with people?
Is this CL ad a joke?
Sadly, I doubt it. I see a lot of that kind of stuff in horse ads and all over the internet. It’s quite terrifying really.
Which begs the question. Has anyone been denied a basic (grade/HS) education in this country?
There’s a free spell checker for every browser. If you aren’t using one, your being lazy (which is the real problem).
“If you aren’t using one, your being lazy (which is the real problem).” I think you mean, “you’re,” not “your.”
So slightly off the topic, but I am getting more and more educated every day thanks to fugly’s blog. So when I decide its time for another horse I have no clue where to start. Do I try to go to the track and get one? Do i get one from a rescue? Do I go to an auction? Thats where I got mine and saved him from the kill buyer, but it was so heart breaking being there. I was horrified. Baby horses being taken away from Mom! What at terrible way to wean them! I still want to cry just thinking about that day. I dont know if I could do it again. If I did how do I feel ok about only being able to save one horse? ugh….
If this pathetic little creature is three or even two years old, I’m the queen of England – it looks barely weaned to me!
(
I’d go and get him myself if I could.
Darn! Don’t know how to send a URL! How about this? http://lexington.craigslist.org/grd/1622189285.html
OT: here’s the video that was posted in a wyoming craiglist ad. It’s a great example of a nicely bred horse being made to look like a nag in the sales material, seriously bizarre parelli type rope handling during the first saddling, and improper tack fit.

Yes the photography is excellent but in a lot of pictures the riding is pretty atrocious!

I just can’t get over the expressivness of the horses’ faces she caught in these photos- you could not ask for better examples of horses in FEAR, in PAIN, in TOTAL CONFUSION… Betcha most of these were for sale on Craigslist come fall, as they just “wouldn’t cut it” as barrel horses. Hmmmm…. maybe the riders have SOMETHING to do with that?!?
Maybe he’s a dominant type and she got into a battle of wills with him…which could easily escalate. But is also easy enough fixed by somebody who, you know, knows what they’re doing.
Nameless writes, “He was sent to pack, and that’s where he was supposed to end up.” I guess that’s where he was supposed to end up after he was supposed to be rehabbed, and after he was supposed to be sold on Craigslist, and after he was supposed to have been sold to someone (as a kid’s mount maybe?) at her barn, and after he was supposed to have been taken in by the horse rescue.
