I’m declaring this Free Information Day!

SIDE NOTE FOR THE LOCALS HERE IN KING COUNTY: For horses’ sake, PLEASE vote for Susan Hutchison today! Dow Constantine will CLOSE Animal Control and then we’ll be begging the Sheriff for help with skinny horses. We all know how well THAT works. Unless you want things to get a lot worse for our animals, vote for Susan.

UPDATE – I just did a summary of the horses we still need info for on page 5 of the comments.

No time to write anything complicated today, but it just occurred to me that it’s a new month which means myself and every other AQHA member here has $10 of free searches, and I have access to the Jockey Club’s tattoo traces (that’s unlimited) so if you are trying to ID a Thoroughbred, or find out who the current registered owner is of a Quarter Horse, post your question here!

When I run out of AQHA credit, I’ll post and then someone else can jump in.
I know we have folks here with Datasource for Arabian horse questions, and I’m sure we have people with APHA access and other breeds, so don’t be shy. Post it if you want to know the answer!

Ivalmas- LTs Gold Freckle is still showing registered to his breeder (which I guess is you). He is showing a HYPP test on file. I guess if his new owners haven’t transferred his papers, they aren’t breeding for registered foals and AQHA doesn’t show any on file.

anotherJuli- Impressive Easy Jack has a total of 30 registered foals, 5 of which have performed and 1 which is still performing in 2009. I am about out of money so I can’t be more specific for you. Sorry!

StPetersGal: If I remember correctly, that would have been – what – 1973? I think Don Harris was judging, and I do remember Prim Style winning the gaited stake with Gary. I don’t remember when Gary parted company with Blacklaw’s and I’m not really sure I ever knew why, except that perhaps both parties thought they were destined for bigger and better things? I really don’t know.

I’m not sure you and I ever met. That was a long time ago.

If you would like more info, or I can look up some of Prim Style’s get for you that may still be alive in your area, you can email me at trailsnailk@aol.com

I just checked Dow Constantines record on animal rights and he has a great- long term record of protecting our furry friends.

As a State Representative, Dow co-sponsored 1997 legislation requiring trappers to use the most humane trapping methods possible. As State Senator, Dow supported I-713 and co-sponsored changes on behalf of the Humane Society, and Dow opposed subsequent legislation that would have repealed I-713. (HB 1885, 1997; SB 5831, 2001)

    · Dow co-sponsored legislation limiting exemptions from animal cruelty in the second degree. (SB 6104, 2001)
    (full prosecutions- no exemptions)

    · Dow co-sponsored a bill that allowed licensed animal therapists to operate independently of a veterinarian, making the service more accessible to pet owners. (SB 5621, 2001)

    · Dow co-sponsored legislation to prohibit dealing in domestic dog or cat fur including knowingly trapping and breeding dogs and cats for fur. (HB 2280, 1999)

    · Dow co-sponsored legislation requiring a person convicted of unlawfully killing or possessing wildlife to reimburse the State for the loss of value. (HB 1806; 1997)

    · As a member of the County Council’s Budget Leadership Team from 2002 to 2007, Dow made sure that every request for King County’s Animal Shelter System was fully funded in the final King County budget.

    · After a 2007 citizen’s committee report blasted “deplorable” conditions at King County’s animal shelters, Dow personally investigated and was appalled at the way animals were being housed and treated. He then called for immediate implementation of the report’s recommendations. (Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Sept. 27, 2007)

    · Dow co-sponsored legislation in 2007 to dramatically reduce the death rates at King County animal shelters, declaring that no adoptable animal should die, that no healthy animal should become unhealthy due to County shelter conditions, and that King County should move to an innovative, humane shelter model. (Seattle Times, Sept. 28, 2007)

    · “We have an absolute obligation to these animals to provide humane care, medical treatment, and food and shelter,” said Dow. “We must give them every opportunity to be reunited with their families or to be placed in a loving home.” (Council press release, Oct. 8, 2007)

    · Dow and colleague Julia Patterson negotiated a compromise with the County Executive that led to immediate shelter funding and staff improvements. (Seattle Post-Intelligencer, April 11, 2008)

    · Dow worked to bring in outside experts to conduct an independent assessment of the County’s shelter system. (Seattle Times, April 15, 2008)

    · Dow convened a county-wide “Town Hall” meeting to examine and solicit public comment on animal welfare issues. The Town Hall drew record attendance – a crowd estimated at 700. (Seattle Times, April 15, 2008)

    · Dow co-sponsored a motion inviting volunteer veterinarians into King County shelters to alleviate substandard conditions and improve animal care. (Seattle Times, April 22, 2008)

    · Dow co-sponsored a study and legislation to ban continuous tethering or chaining of dogs in unincorporated King County. (Council press release, June 23, 2008)

    · When the shelter culture proved resistant to reform, Dow joined several Council colleagues in calling for King County to get out of the shelter business and to explore the transfer of shelter duties to a community-based partner. (Seattle Times, Oct. 6, 2008) Interim County Executive Kurt Triplett has now endorsed such a plan.

    · Dow will be working during 2009 on the dog tethering/chaining legislation and pressing his demand that animals in King County receive the highest level of humane care.

    · Dow and Shirley are personal supporters of the Furry Faces Foundation, Friends of the Animals, and Vashon Island Pet Protectors, among others. They share their home with Samson, a “tuxedo” cat who was rescued and fostered by Friends of the Animals, and Kiyomi, a very happy black cat who spent four long months in a public shelter before coming to her new home.

I see Dow Constantine’s PR person showed up. They must be googling his name.

Closing KCAC – DUMBEST IDEA EVER. Cut costs somewhere else. KCAC is actually doing a fine job, and as a rescuer, I can attest that they’ve helped us get convictions and jail time for those who neglect and abuse horses.

I pity the animals of Washington if Mr. Constantine follows through with this extremely wrongheaded idea.

By the way, if by ‘resistant to reform’ you mean that they still want to euth aggressive dogs, please let me know your address so we can dump them off in your yard. Make sure to get a high enough fence up!

I’m SO damn sick of NO-KILL WACKOS!

I’m gonna write an off topic blog very soon about the no-kill wackos. This is on my last nerve.

It should be noted FADAZZLE – AHR*165756 has been deceased since Oct 5, 1992. Her last recored owner was Carol Joyce Witt in IL. At least Mrs. Witt cared enough to send the AHR the information regarding the mare’s passing. So few so. Fadazzle must have been loved.

I believe the AHR waits 40 years before declaring, “Presumed Deceased”.

You’re very welcome! I noticed that your horse sk gringolet’s dam is closely related to one of my friend’s Appaloosa mares. Her mare’s name is Starina. Her sire is Pocos Hobbie and her dam is Don Clevah. You can look her up on allbreedpedigree and see a picture of her. I sent my friend an email to see if she has the AQHA reg# for Scare Along or knows who her sire and dam are. That would fill in that gap in your horse’s pedigree! It’s a small world :)

asbrider, watch for my e-mail – and thank you a thousand times!

Fugly, you have my permission to tromp all over the no-kill wackos. Have at it!

Of course, as a dog person, just the phrase “King County Shelter” puts my back up. I remember when they implemented PeTA’s dream legislation, back in the ’80s, and the aftermath – which we level-heads had accurately predicted.

My county shelter is virtually non-kill. They haven’t had to put down an *adoptable* animal in 3 years. “No-Kill” shelters aren’t, really, because when they fill up with the unadoptables, they have to turn animals away – and they wind up at the “kill” shelter.

And we had Mrs. Strickland out here, in the ’80s. Hoarding more than 600 dogs and cats, trying to take care of them by herself – when AC raided her, I believe that 200 or so had to be put down on the spot, they were in such bad condition. This “rescuer” had critters living in worse conditions than any Amish puppy mill. Another “no kill” wacko. Agh.

    fanaberia,
thanks for the info on the 2 that I asked about. I can tell you that AK Sachi-Khan is a chestnut gelding foaled June ’80 so most likely deceased tho not necessarily; his grandmother lived to 32. Not surprised he had no show record; he was trail ridden a lot. I kept track of him thru several owners and then lost track. Not sure why AHA doesn’t have gender or color of foal date but oh well. I met the 2nd owner of Debut after I had sold her and they were supposed to keep in touch but they never did. Don’t know if that was the same name or not, but it’s good to have a name anyway. Thanks again.

Hi, I’m hoping someone out there can help find info on two registered horses we saved from the auction this week. One is a 19 yo TWH gelding, Imp’s Mr. Isaac. The other is a 5 yo BS APHA gelding, Macho Kid’s Legacy. Also a 5 yo TB mare, but she’s not tattooed so I don’t think there’s any hope there. Reply here or on our forum: http://auctionhorses.proboards.com
    Thanks!

Missed that comment about Innocent Invitation (we call him Indy) until now – and yes, from what I’d looked up and learned about him, I was really boogled that he ended up where he did. My mom was looking for a steady packer for my dad to hunter pace when she found Indy, and bought him despite his age (not quite six) because she thought he was too nice to be where he was. Inevitably, he didn’t work out as he was just too green and a bit sassy! So he got passed along to me. Maybe he was just too fresh for Western Pleasure? His neckset is probably a little high. I don’t know – but I also found records of him at a Tattersall sale in CT a few months before we got him, so he got shuffled around a lot. One of his hocks has a calcification, and I wondered if he’d maybe had an injury – though he’s perfectly sound now. I’m eventing him, and he loves it. Michael Page loves him (more than my Irish-bred mare, haha) and thinks he has the talent to go advanced. Fantastic jumper – I’ve taken him prelim height (3’7″) and it’s easy for him. I got him to First Level in nine months. Moves more like a warmblood than a QH. He’s a lovely horse – just maybe not at what he was bred for.

Wish I had a good one of him jumping – REALLY tight front end.

I hope someone still looks at this old thread … but it seemed the appropriate place to ask.

I’m looking for information on an older arabian mare that my husband has fallen in love with. I believe that she is one of these two horses and wondering if someone can do a look up on them and see what information is to be found.

Do any Arabian folks know anything about the farm or bloodlines these two may have come from? Seems like there should be a story behind two fillies named so similarly born 10 days apart.

Anyone know anything about a 14.2hh colonial chestnut arab staliion? Razuli (or something spelt similar to that..) 3 white socks and a blaze. Does/did endurance at a high level. Sire of my mare. Everything I pull on him is a blank.. I want to find out something of his competition records. I was told by my mares breeder that there was a lot of controversay about his journey to aussie/nz (he is currently located in one of those two countries) He is registered (well, I asume so.. cause my mares registered, so he must of been registered, right?)
