Well, here are some feet for you…
Aug 21 2009
KarenV sent me these pics of her new rescue. He arrived tonight and promptly wrote “GET ME A FARRIER!” in the sand of her arena with his cute little Morab nose. Yeah, I’m kidding but hey, he should have. Actually he should have planted that sharp sticking-out part good and hard in the middle of his previous owner’s butt!
The rest of him doesn’t look much better. Karen says he is missing teeth, so he’s going on a diet of soaked hay pellets to regain his weight. The nice thing is that Morgans and Arabians are both breeds that tend to regain lost pounds quickly so I’m sure we’ll have some awesome “after” pics before winter hits, and this guy’s hungry days are over.
You can follow his progress on Karen’s blog.

OMG I make a stand when I see a dog with overgrown toenails. I do NOT think I could keep my cool seeing feet like this, attached to a body like that. I bet that poor horse has the dullest, most given up on life look in it’s eyes. Poor horse. I wonder why it seems like people who can’t afford gas in their car always have a bazillion horses? I wonder why people who have a half acre of dirt have 5 horses on it, cutting themselves on the fence trying to eat the weeds on the other side? And, these are the people who NEVER spend any time with their horses.
Many years ago, when I was married only 3 years, I would say to my husband as we drove by fields of horses: :Why can they have 20 horses they never pay attention to, and I can’t afford to have ONE who would have the best of care?”
He replied: “because you give a shit, not only about them, but about yourself and our financial security, too”.
Since then I have had a few very nice horses in my life, mostly discarded seniors fit only for light riding, just what I want. When they are too old to move around easily, We euth on the farm and they go back into the earth in the cycle of life. And I help another.
I do have a “want” horse, and he is great. But when it comes to my step-grandchildren and my husband, give me an ol’ plug ANY DAY.
